The BSU hosted the Baikal Environmental Dictation

Events 5/16/2024

For the fourth time Baikal State University became the venue for the Baikal Environmental Dictation. In 2024, over 12 thousand people from 28 regions of Russia, including the Lugansk People's Republic and Crimea, took part in the event. In 2024, the dictant is dedicated to the year of the family and the centenary of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Nature.

“We understand that today we are writing about Baikal and we think that after writing the dictation each of us will come to Baikal with a different sense of duty, more reverently and responsibly treat it”, - says the chairman of the Irkutsk regional branch of the All-Russian Society for Nature Conservation Vera Shlyonova.

The author of the dictation text is Anna Maslennikova, a BSU graduate. It is not the first year her texts have been used for the All-Russian action. The duration of the dictation was forty-five minutes, and its questions touched upon the theme of Baikal science. The ecological dictation was written both by participants of previous years and those who decided to test their strength for the first time.

"I thought I didn't know anything. It turned out that if you dive a little into the history of our small homeland, you can generally answer all the questions that were hidden in the dictation,” said Olga Zhigalova, a participant of the Baikal Environmental Dictation-2024.

The dictation includes not only environmental questions, but also cultural and historical ones. Immediately after the end, the check of written works began at the sites.
