How to Apply

Dear friends!

The academic year at BSU starts in September and ends in June (September 1 - June 30).

Students are required to get a student type of visa for studying at BSU.

For that, you should get involved into invitation procedure. Preparing an invitation is a free university service.

Step 1. Official Invitation

In order to get a visa invitation (for getting visa in the Russian Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence) you need to send us by post (664003, Russia, Irkutsk, 11 Lenin St., 5-205) or via e-mail (umd@bgu.ru):

  • scan of your legalized certificate of completed secondary education with a statement of results (for taking a bachelor’s degree program in BSU) or scan of legalized bachelor’s degree diploma with a statement of results (for taking a master’s degree program in BSU);
  • a scan of your passport, it should be valid for a minimum period of 18 months from the issue date of your visa. Your passport should contain at least two blank pages;
  • a filled invitation form.

Step 2. One-entry visa

After getting BSU-invitation you should apply for study visa in the nearest Russian Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence.

Step 3. Prepare Required Documents for Admission

For Pre-graduate Training:
  • 1 An original of a legalized certificate of completed secondary education with a statement of results (for the preparatory course for taking a bachelor’s degree program in BSU) or legalized bachelor’s degree diploma with a statement of results (for the preparatory course for taking a master’s degree program in BSU);
    see list of countries education documents of which DO NOT require legalization
  • 2 A certified translation of education documents (including the statement of results) into Russian;
  • 3 An original of your passport with a pasted single-entry visa;
  • 4 An original of your migration card with a border crossing mark;
  • 5 3 colored photos (3x4) on matte paper.
NB! If you don’t have legalized education documents (if necessary) and its certified translation, we won’t be able to admit you to the course chosen.
For Undergraduate and Post-graduate Programs
  • 1 An original of a legalized certificate of completed secondary education with a statement of results (for taking a bachelor’s degree program in BSU) or legalized bachelor’s degree diploma with a statement of results (for taking a master’s degree program in BSU);
    see list of countries education documents of which DO NOT require legalization
  • 2 A certified translation of education documents (including the statement of results) into Russian;
  • 3 A Russian language certificate (B1 - for taking a bachelor's degree program, B2 - for taking a master's degree program) is welcomed, but not compulsory required;
  • 4 An original of your passport with a pasted single-entry visa;
  • 5 An original of your migration card with a border crossing mark;
  • 6 3 colored photos (3x4) on matte paper.
NB! If you don't have the Russian language certificate, you can get one after taking a Russian test in the University. The entrants are also required to take interim university exams on special subjects depending on the program. (for more detailed information please go here)
Take into account

Depending on the country where your educational documents were obtained, going through the procedure of educational documents recognition may also be required.

After arrival in Irkutsk

Important!
After your arrival in Irkutsk you should come to submit your originals of the documents first to:
