The SKDC "Khudozhestvenny" hosted a landmark event dedicated to the 114th anniversary of the birth of the leader of the Korean people, Kim Il Sung. The meeting dedicated to the state holiday of the DPRK - "Day of the Sun" was organized by the Irkutsk regional public organization "Society of Russian-Korean Friendship," a delegation of the Khabarovsk Office of the DPRK Consulate General in Vladivostok and Baikal State University.

Despite years of close cooperation and the fact that the chairman of the Irkutsk Regional Society of Friends of Mongolia Kuzma Aldarov is a graduate of BSU, an official cooperation agreement has been signed only now. BSU Rector Professor Oleg Gribunov and Kuzma Aldarov signed a document defining the priority areas of joint work in the field of science and education.

The Governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev presented the rector of Baikal State University, Professor Oleg Gribunov, with the Gratitude of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The award was awarded to the university staff for their services in the field of science and education, as well as for their contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists.

As part of the Years of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of education, BSU hosted an online meeting with the leadership of the University of Inner Mongolia (PRC).

Academic and scientific partners, as well as good friends of Baikal State University from China, Mongolia and Vietnam, celebrated the Lunar New Year. In 2026, the celebration of the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival, Chunjie) coincided with the Vietnamese holiday of Tet (First Morning Holiday) - they came on February 17. Mongolian Tsagaan Sar (White Month) met a day later - February 18.

New Year's Eve in the student cultural and leisure center "Khudozhestvenny" for students of the PRC studying at universities in the Irkutsk region was prepared by Baikal State University. Daria Orlova is a 4th year student at IKSKIT BSU, winner of Miss Cosmo Russia 2025 and finalist of Miss Cosmo International. This is not the first time a student has participated in beauty contests, including those of an international level. The victory in the Russian stage opened the door for the girl to the final of the world contest Miss Cosmo International, which was held in December in Vietnam.
