Pyongyang hosts the II Forum of Rectors of Universities of Russia and the DPRK, which brings together representatives of more than 70 leading higher educational institutions of the two countries. BSU Rector Professor Oleg Gribunov and Dean of the International Faculty Anna Litovkina attended a diplomatic reception on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the proclamation of the People's Republic of China. The official event, timed to coincide with the creation of the PRC in 1949, was organized by the Consulate General of the PRC in Irkutsk. The meeting brought together the leaders of the region, representatives of the diplomatic corps, business, science and education.

An international conference "Dialogue between Russian and Chinese youth in a new era" was held in Beijing. It was organized by the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (KAON) and Beijing University of Foreign Languages.
