New Year's Eve in the student cultural and leisure center "Khudozhestvenny"
for students of the PRC studying at universities in the Irkutsk region was
prepared by Baikal State University. The event was organized by the Consulate
General of the People's Republic of China in Irkutsk and the Association of
Chinese Students and Scientists of Irkutsk. The evening was attended by
representatives of leading universities of the regional center, the regional
government, employees of the Consulate General and the Russian Foreign Ministry
in Irkutsk.
Mrs. Consul General Liu Yu congratulated her fellow countrymen on the
upcoming Lunar New Year - Spring Festival, Russians on the upcoming 2026 year.
"Students of the People's Republic of China study hard and participate in
educational exchanges, thus strengthening cooperation between our countries,"
said Mrs. Consul General. - This is an important part of Russian-Chinese
relations. In Irkutsk, our students receive the skills and knowledge needed in
the modern world, and we are grateful for the excellent education of the
teaching community."
A festive concert for guests was prepared by students of the International
Faculty and the Center for Creativity of BSU, the program also included
performances by children's creative groups of the city on the Angara. With
special warmth, the audience greeted the numbers performed by mixed compositions
- Russian and Chinese soloists and dancers.
Welcoming the audience, the rector of BSU, Professor Oleg Gribunov, noted
that the festive evening within the walls of the university is a significant
event, since 2026-2027 have been declared the cross years of education in Russia
and China. "Our countries celebrate New Year's holidays on different calendars,
but a series of educational and cultural events, which are organized, including
on the basis of the Baikal State University, we emphasize the special
relationship between our peoples, unity of warmth and friendly participation of
the younger generation.
On behalf of the university staff and the council of rectors of Irkutsk
universities, congratulations on the upcoming New Year holidays of our Chinese
friends!"
