The Department of Sectoral Economics and Natural Resource Management of BSU
is preparing to present its project at the All–Russian competition among
university teams and industry companies - the Youth Global Forecast of Energy
Development. The competition is supported by the Ministry of Energy of the
Russian Federation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian
Federation, and the largest companies in the country's fuel and energy complex.
As part of the project, it is necessary to analyze available information
sources and build a model for the development of the fuel and energy complex
under the influence of identified trends in negative, conservative and positive
scenarios, as well as assess the impact of projected changes on the
socio-economic development of Russia.
"Our team consists of 15 people – bachelor's students, starting from the 2nd
year and the 1st year students of the master's degree," explained Alexander
Izmestyev, head of the department, "We want to compete with pure "oil and gas
technicians." It seems that we will be tougher in the methodological issues of
processing the initial information, most of which is not technological. The
preparation of a scientifically based industry forecast based on the analysis of
a huge amount of source data is the topic of oil and gas economists. Our group
has been working for 3.5 months, with another month until the end of the first
stage. If our forecast is selected for the final of the competition, the defense
of the project will take place at the end of August in Moscow."
The Bachelor's degree program "Economics of the Oil and Gas Complex" is a
practice-oriented system for training economists for companies in the oil and
gas complex.
