The organizational meeting with full-time postgraduate students was held by the First Vice-rector-Rector for Scientific Work of Baikal State University, Professor Oleg Gribunov. He noted that the main task of each graduate student is to write and defend a PhD thesis, and the university has all the opportunities for this. Today the university has three dissertation councils in five areas of study: the council for economic sciences - one major, the council for technical sciences - two majors and the council for legal sciences - also two majors. In addition, the uniqueness of BSU lies in the fact that the university offers a symbiosis of majors that complement each other.

The main task, orienting to further success, the rationale of the research paper, and it should be prepared within a month. It is also important not to delay in choosing a topic and a supervisor. It is desirable that the topic was close to the graduate student, so that he was familiar with it in practice. At the disposal of young scientists is a large scientific library, where you can study online, which is very convenient. By the end of their studies, a graduate student should publish at least three HAC articles and participate in five or six scientific and practical conferences.

According to Oleg Gribunov, it is the departments that should become a reference point in scientific work for a graduate student.

“I hope that many have come here out of the call of their hearts and will come out with good results by graduation. I would like to remind you that postgraduates who defend their works ahead of schedule will be exempted from tuition fees. It is important not to ignore the activities of the postgraduate school”, - emphasized Oleg Gribunov.
