One of the most important events was held at Baikal State University - the International Student Scientific and Practical Conference on the theme "Russia and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region: dialogue of cultures (traditions and modernity)". The international faculty and the department of the Russian language and intercultural communication of BSU organized this event.
Mikhail Kuz’min, Vice-Rector for International Relations of BSU, noted: “This conference is particularly relevant, since intercultural communication makes it possible to build mutually beneficial friendly relations at the interpersonal, inter-organizational and interstate levels in the current rapidly changing world situation. I believe that many of the presented projects have great potential for further development, performing abroad and obtaining funding for their implementation at a higher level.”
The Conference included 72 reports presented by Russian and foreign students, undergraduates and postgraduates in seven sections. Participants, including representatives of BSU partner universities from China - Jilin University of Finance and Economics, Manzhouli College of Russian Language and Manzhouli College of Inner Mongolia University, spoke both in person and remotely. In total, more than 150 people took part in the Conference.
An expert jury also included teachers who were native speakers of the Chinese language, they assessed the best scientific works. The winners of section reports were evaluated in 4 nominations - "The best possession of oratory" (Zhang Jiangjiang, Liu Hao, Tyukavkina-Plotnikova Anastasia, Cui Songjun, Kirillova Ekaterina), "The relevance of the study" (Song Luling, Xu Yimeng, Wang Ting, Feng Yunfei), "The creative approach to research" (Yadamsuren Munkh-Erdene, Sun Shixing, Li Zhiling, Ding Xiangwen), "The high level of foreign language proficiency" (Wang Jiannan, Nie Qianyi, Liang Liang, Sun Minghui). Participants from our university and other universities of Irkutsk and abroad - ISU, ZabSU, have got certificates of honour.
Anna Litovkina, Dean of the International Faculty of BSU, said:
“The sections work is devoted to modern problems of linguistics and intercultural communication, media discourse, problems and prospects of international education, topical issues of regional studies in Russia and Asian countries, as well as the development of Russian-Chinese cooperation and regional studies. The best speakers were recommended to prepare an article based on the scientific research materials and publish it in the BSU journal – Global & Regional Research”.
All sections participants showed personal interest in scientific work, the reports were accompanied by informative and vivid presentations.
While answering the questions, the speakers have shown excellent knowledge of the research material. After the conference, the audience noted the cognition and relevance of this scientific event, most of them had a desire to make presentations next year.
