Regional Employment Assistance Center (Career Center) deals with the issues of employment of young specialists of BSU. The Center’s activities contribute to annual growth in demand for graduates in the Russian and International labor market.

“Our main business partners are Russian and International companies, as well as municipal, regional and federal authorities (Government of Irkutsk Region, Customs Service, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Health, etc.),” Alyona Lazareva, a Career center representative, noted.

In 2021, Baikal State University was successfully integrated into a digital career system “Facultetus”. This system helps to organize the process of graduates’ employment and to build effective interaction between universities and employers. Currently, 697 students and graduates of the BSU have registered in the system, 413 organizations and enterprises have become the university’s personnel partners.

“Last year the BSU Career Center entered the All-Russian Association of Career Centers as a full member. Moreover, our university has become a participant in a long-term program to promote youth employment until 2030. It implements an acceleration program for the Career Centers’ development. The program is aimed at improving the efficiency of Career Centers and solving a set of tasks to achieve the goals of University, region and industry. We also signed a cooperation agreement with the largest online recruiting platform in Russia, HeadHunter. HH provides for the creation of a graduates’ resumes database and its integration with the platform,” Mikhail Kuz’min, Vice-Rector for International Relations, said.

Mikhail Kuz’min also emphasized: “Since last year, the BSU Career Center has been a partner and one of the organizers of the regional competition, My Career. The purpose of the competition was to train and select managerial personnel for the region. The main organizer of My Career was the Ministry of Youth Policy and the Government of Irkutsk region. It is important to note that 6 students of Baikal State University became the winners of the competition in 2021. This year, more than 100 students of BSU are participants and university staff are experts and speakers of the competition. All this together has a positive effect on the demand of our university graduates, the level of their wages, as well as improving the position of the university in national rankings.”

As a reminder, according to recently published HeadHunter ranking of best universities, Baikal State University is in the 36th place, a leading position among the universities of Irkutsk region.
