a fascinating excursion by students of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of Baikal State University was a real discovery for all participants. This time the team of linguists decided to try their skills as guides and interpreters. The participants learned a lot of interesting facts about the history of the city, its main attractions and famous personalities who made a significant contribution to the development of their native land.
“Our group with our professor Irina Nikolaevna organized an excursion around the city, where we acted as guides-interpreters and told about the most significant places of Irkutsk. During the preparation for the work and during the tour itself we learned many facts about the city and its cultural traits. Undoubtedly, it was an invaluable experience that gave us unforgettable impressions. Thank you to our teacher for this opportunity!", - shared her impressions first year student Sofya Bukina.
"This first experience proved to be extremely valuable for our students, who not only put their language skills into practice, but also greatly expanded their knowledge of their native land. We are looking forward to continuing such events. We already have ideas on how to expand our students' knowledge. Plans include thematic exploration in English of the Limnological Museum in Listvyanka and the open-air museum in Taltsy. Such classes will help our students to understand and love our unique region even more deeply,” said Irina Zyryanova, Head of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics.
