The Russian language is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. It is one of the
six
official languages
of the
United
Nations
, a means of communication between the peoples of the Russian federation, the CIS member states and the Baltic countries. The Russian language is popular in various countries, especially the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China) and
the countries of Asia-Pacific Region. Knowledge of the methods of teaching Russian to students of other languages (RSOL) will help to find an interesting
and well-paid job, and build a successful career.
The program includes study of Russian and other (European) languages, the theory and practice of teaching RSOL, language and culture, conducting research in the field
of Language Pedagogy and cross-cultural communication, developing teaching materials, using modern information resources and technologies.
This program is designed for Russian and foreign undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students who want to teach RSOL.
The research and teaching apprenticeship is possible at Russian-Chinese and Russian-French departments of BSU, in the center of the French language L'Alliance Française
in Irkutsk, at the departments of Russian as a foreign language in other Irkutsk universities, and in partner universities as part of language learning programs
for up to 6 months.
During the training students are taught to do the following:
- discuss socio-political, specialized, general topics in fluent Russian and English;
- choose efficient kinds and methods of work;
- understand students’ psychology;
- understand basic values of Russian and foreign cultures;
- do research in linguistics, language pedagogy, cross-cultural communication;
- use non-verbal means of communication;
