Today, on March 31, the opening ceremony of the History hall of Baikal State University took place. The event was timed to coincide with the 95th anniversary of the university, which it celebrates in 2025 and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

The museum has 8 locations: the central place is occupied by the reconstructed office of the first rector of the Siberian Institute of Finance and Economics (as the BSU was called in 1930). Modern installations contain information about the university's past and present. The showcases feature archival photos and documents, awards, printed materials: books, newspapers of the first half of the twentieth century.

As Oleg Gribunov, Acting Rector of BSU, said, over the years the university has undergone various structural changes, but all this time brilliant specialists have been working within its walls. "We were approaching today with excitement. I hope that our museum will become a place of attraction for guests, students and faculty, and will be replenished with information and exhibits, because each department has something to add to the exposition. I welcome the graduates of previous years who have come to share our celebration. I am especially pleased that Nikolai Andreevich Rumyantsev, who graduated from IFEI in 1959, is with us today.

I would like to express my gratitude to the author and organizer of the exhibition, Irina Minulina, director of the scientific library. Congratulations to everyone on the opening of the museum!"

The right to cut the red ribbon was granted to the heads of the university from different years – Mikhail Vinokurov, Viktor Ignatenko and Acting Rector of BSU Oleg Grybunov. Among the guests were Minister of Youth Policy of Irkutsk region Margarita Tsyganova, staff, teachers, directors of institutes of the university, honored scientists of the University.

Honorary Rector of BSU Mikhail Vinokurov noted that by restoring traditions, the current leadership of the university chooses the right vector of development.

And Professor Viktor Ignatenko congratulated those present and made the first contribution to the development of the museum – he handed over archival documents, photographs of graduates and teachers of the University of the 1930s.
