Opening of the festival Man and Nature
On September 22, the opening of the 21st Baikal International Film Festival "Man and Nature" named after Valentin Rasputin took place at the cultural and leisure center "Khudozhestvenny". The organizers conceived the festival as a film platform that gives directors and viewers the opportunity to reflect on the complex relationship between man and nature.

The Scientific Library opens a series of exhibitions of from the fund of the Rector's Reading Room
Since the new academic year, the BSU Scientific Library has been opening a
series of exhibitions "From the fund of the Rector's Reading Room". Already, a
large exhibition of encyclopedias from the Rector's Reading room is presented
for visitors in the lobby near the subscription of educational literature. Among
the publications of the encyclopedia series are "Great Journeys", "Great
Rulers", "Historia rossica", books by foreign publishers Aspen Publishers and
Blackwell Publishing.
Foreign students choose to study at Baikal State University
Foreign students still choose to study at Baikal State University. Currently,
about 400 citizens of other countries study at BSU: more than 300 bachelors,
about 50 undergraduates and 5 postgraduates. There is one Colombian and four
Chinese citizens studying at the graduate school of BSU. Until last year,
students from Latin America had never studied at BSU, and now there are four of
them –graduate student from Colombia, two undergraduates and one student of the
preparatory faculty from Ecuador.

Awarding diplomas to graduates of the Department of Sociology and Psychology
In an upscale ambience, graduates of the Department of Sociology and Psychology received their diplomas of higher education; diplomas were awarded to bachelors and masters in the specialty of "Social work", masters in the specialty of "Psychology" and specialists in the specialty of "Psychology of official activity". This year, the topics of the final research papers were quite diverse and, as always, relevant. Many materials were prepared on the orders of institutions and organizations, so the results obtained were the most appreciated. The department is proud that this academic year 37% of graduates received diplomas with honors. It is gratifying that the rector of Baikal State University, Professor Viktor Ignatenko, personally presented them.
