Changes in economic situation in the sphere of the development of Digital Economy in the Russian Federation, in the real estate management market and in the development of Smart City and Smart Home technologies require new investment technologies in this area. Investors, developers, mortgage brokers, real estate and business appraisers, real estate managers, organizers of commercial tenders, and project managers are called upon to do this.

The basis of the educational process at the department is project training, that allows to give knowledge to students not only within the framework of lectures and seminars, but also to implement interesting business projects together with enterprises and organizations. This is also facilitated by the partnership agreement concluded in 2014 between Baikal State University, Tomsk University of Architecture and Civil Engineering and Bratsk State University in order to organize project training within the framework of the annual competition of students’ projects. The technology of project-based training is supposed to create groups of students of different specialties, to attract practitioners from business or government to supervise these groups; to receive design assignments from them.
