The Baikal State University has a deep tradition of training specialists for neighboring Mongolia and scientific research in the field of Mongolian studies. On June 22, the presentation of the book of the Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of World Economy and Economic Security Jargal Tagarov "Mongolia and the History of the World Economy" took place at the Center for the Study of Mongolia of BSU. Jargal Tagarov (1952-2020) is a talented scientist and teacher, he devoted his life to the study of the world economy, and the countries of the East and the trade of Kyakhta, his entire career took place within the walls of our university.
At the Baikal University was held the final research paper defense of masters. Future managers of the International Management direction presented their papers for evaluation by the qualification commission, which included heads of large commercial companies with experience in interacting with foreign partners. The importance of this program is that the training takes place in English. Students of this direction can simultaneously receive both professional qualifications and raise the level of foreign language proficiency.
After a break related to the pandemic, the Center for Testing Russian as a Foreign Language for Citizens of foreign countries has resumed work at Baikal State University. Similar centers exist in many Russian universities. The main testing center is located at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN).
Three third-year students of the International Faculty studying under the Bachelor's degree program "World Economy. Double graduation" Ekaterina Stepanova, Polina Ostapchuk and Maria Shunova continued their studies at the University of International Business and Economics (Beijing). Due to the pandemic, training in dual degree programs was almost stopped. However, the BSU students were not discouraged. They monitored the situation and as soon as air traffic with China was opened, they wrote a letter to the Chinese Embassy and were included in the main list.
The annual traditional and the massive student event – the spring Student Ball took place today at Baikal State University. Its theme was the Carnival of Venice. The results of the students' work were summarized. The laureates and winners of twelve nominations have been identified, which determine the activities of students. This includes sports, social, creative and media activities. Student public and trade union collectives are also well represented and noted.
