Baikal State University took 14th place in the ranking of Russian universities implementing educational programs in the field of State and Local Government.

On May 21, the election of the rector was held at Baikal University. Three candidates who have passed the certification in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation applied for this position.:

At the invitation of Wuhan University (China), Acting Rector of BSU participated in the World Conference on Digital Education. His report focused on the study of risks associated with digital learning and the potential use of artificial intelligence to enhance scientific research and the educational process in academic institutions.

The delegation from Vietnam arrived in Irkutsk to discuss promising areas of cooperation with BSU. The university in Halong has 10 thousand students and more than 300 staff and teachers. According to the rector of the Vietnamese university Nguyen Duc Tiep, they would like to have partnership relations with Baikal State University, as a leading economic university of the Siberian region, not only in the field of education, but also in scientific areas in the field of economics, tourism and information technology.

The delegation from Wuhan University, one of the largest universities in China, arrived in Irkutsk to meet with the management of Baikal State University. This is a return visit of colleagues. Not so long ago, a group of leading professors and specialists of BSU was in China and agreed on the implementation of joint educational programs.

One of the outcomes of the business trip of Baikal State University representatives to China was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with Shandong Women's University (Jinan, China).

By order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, dated March 26, 2025, number 242, the new Dissertation Council for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations in the specialty 5.1.1 – Theoretical and Historical Law Sciences was established at Baikal State University.

Today, on March 31, the opening ceremony of the History hall of Baikal State University took place. The event was timed to coincide with the 95th anniversary of the university, which it celebrates in 2025 and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

The international student scientific and practical conference "Russia and the Countries of the Asia-Pacific Region: Dialogue of Cultures" gathered linguists from 12 different countries at Baikal State University. Representatives from 6 leading Russian universities in Irkutsk and the Trans-Baikal Territory.

Together with the heads of educational institutions of Mongolia, the delegation hosted by Baikal State University included deputies of the Legislative Assembly of one of the aimaks.

This was discussed at the meeting between Oleg Gribunov, acting rector of BSU, Doctor of Law, Professor, and Mrs. Batsukh Ichinhorloo, Consul General of Mongolia in Irkutsk. According to the Consul General, customs and tourism are also in-demand specialties for Mongolian students. "We are the nearest neighbors and we need such specialists for the development of our economic relations, - commented Batsukh Ichinhorloo, - still remains relevant for our students to study Russian language. Mongolian business representatives have a need not just for specialists in economics, law, customs and tourism. They need personnel with knowledge of the Russian language".

The meeting was held in the Rector's Hall of BSU. The following persons were present: Evgeny Lishtovanny, PhD, professor, member of the Society, former head of the Russian Foreign Ministry's representative office in Mongolia from Irkutsk region, Anton Prosekin, deputy chairperson of the Society, Yuri Kuzmin, professor of BSU, Ilya Oleinikov, associate professor of BSU. The Society of Friends of Mongolia in Irkutsk was established quite recently - in the summer of 2024. To help build closer relations between the country of the eternal blue sky and educational institutions of Irkutsk is also included in the goals of this public organization. Today's visit is a familiarization visit to discuss joint plans for the future.
