                          "Turn to the East" was discussed by BSU international students
                          
                        
The round table "Turn to the East: One Year Later" was held in the Scientific 
Library of the V.G. Rasputin State University. The event was attended by 
students of Baikal State University Daria Kharitonova and Arina Zhambalova, who 
presented their reports analyzing the research activities of the Valdai Club and 
scenarios of Baikal Siberia development made during the Baikal Economic Forum. 
The reports of Baikal State University representatives were highly appreciated 
by experts from the Institute of Geography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian 
Academy of Sciences. Following the presentations, a free discussion was held, 
where the audience expressed their opinions on Russian foreign policy in the Far

                          BSU is going to develop partnership with China - SCO Trade and Economic Institute
                          
                        
On January 25, Baikal State University received a delegation from the 
China-SCO Institute of Commerce and Economics (CSCO IET, Qingdao). The BSU 
administration discussed with the Chinese colleagues the prospects of 
cooperation in the implementation of joint educational programs, as well as

                          BSU students received Governor's scholarships
                          
                        
On January 25, four students of Baikal State University were rewarded with an 
honorable award - a personal scholarship of the head of the Irkutsk region. 
Among 70 scholarship holders of Irkutsk universities, BSU students attended the 
awarding ceremony in the Government of the region, where the Governor personally

                          BSU international students attending a roundtable on the role of BRICS +
                          
                        
3rd year International Relations students Daria Kharitonova, Sofia Kolyaka 
and Anastasia Osina participated in the round table "The Role of Russia and 
BRICS+ Countries in Strengthening the Multipolar World" held at IRNITU. The 
event was attended by representatives of 14 countries: Russia, India, Belarus, 
China, Malaysia, South Africa, Algeria, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Zambia, Myanmar, 
Nepal, Republic of Cameroon, Somalia, Venezuela. The goal of the event is to 
develop friendly relations between representatives of Russian regions and 
foreign citizens from BRICS+ countries, and to promote traditional Russian

                          BSU teachers were awarded with certificates of professional development
                          
                        
The awarding of certificates to Baikal State University employees who 
completed the advanced training course "English for Higher Education Professors" 
took place at BSU. In total, from March to November, the teachers took 100 hours 
of courses. Nine teachers and heads of departments took the course. The 
lecturers of the course - Anastasia Melgunova, head of the BSU Department of 
Foreign Languages for Professional Purposes, and Ekaterina Bobrova, lecturer of 
the BSU Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics, taught the students 
professional English for academic work. The course included various aspects: 
working with vocabulary on various economic topics, grammar, phonetics, 
listening, reading, writing, preparing and presenting a presentation, conducting 
a conversation and participating in a discussion. The ultimate goal of the 
course is to develop the skills necessary to communicate with foreign colleagues 
and students, to prepare and conduct classes in English.
