Project-based learning started at Baikal State University

Project-based learning at Baikal State University began in the new academic year. Students of the Department of Construction Economics and Real Estate Management conducted field research on the quality of the urban environment as part of the course “Environmental Design”.

In the course of the training the students did a study of comfortable urban environment along the tourist green line. The students walked along the line from the BSU building and further along the entire embankment of the Angara River to the confluence of the Ushakovka River into it. They noted the disadvantages and advantages of certain sections of the Upper and Lower Embankments, as well as the unfinished Tsesovskaya Embankment. Evaluated the convenience of the pedestrian route for tourists.

“The territorial development projects prepared by BSU students and presented last summer to the governor of the Irkutsk region and the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation always start with analyzing the quality of the urban environment. And this analysis should be carried out not sitting behind a desk, but in the field,” says Sergey Astafiev, Head of the Department, Professor of BSU.
