Slata Marathon is an important sporting event in Irkutsk, which annually brings together fans of running and healthy lifestyle not only from Irkutsk, but also from other cities of the region. In 2024, 3,667 people of all ages took part in it. Baikal State University thanks to the initiative and energy of students for the second time takes part in this significant sporting event. The three-kilometer distance was the most massive, with almost 2.5 thousand people taking part in it.

"To run through the streets of our native city, to test our strength, to feel the support of Irkutsk citizens and guests of our city, to test ourselves - all this makes us participate in the marathon for the second time. At this moment we feel ourselves as one team, which is a part of the big sports community of our university and the city of Irkutsk. It is an incredible explosion of energy, positivity, sports excitement and faith in our own strength! After finishing the distance, I would like to say: "We've done it! Join us and become a part of this great sports festival!", - shared her emotions third year student Diana Kokourova.

"Slata Marathon is an incredible and very inspiring event. I was amazed by the enthusiasm and energy of our teachers, who show an example of fortitude and determination! At the finish line, I experienced a sense of pride and fulfillment! It was a great personal victory for each of us. We are grateful to our teachers for the opportunity to share these unforgettable moments with them! I am already looking forward to the next race in 2025," says Ekaterina Bobrova, Associate Professor of the BSU Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics.
