On the final day of the Irkutsk Region Governor's visit to Liaoning Province, the delegation of Baikal State University headed by Oleg Gribunov, First Vice-Rector - Vice-Rector for Research, and Mikhail Kuz’min, Vice-Rector for International Relations, paid a working visit to Shenyang Polytechnic University.

On the Chinese side, the working meeting was attended by Ning Xiansheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shenyang Polytechnic University, Feng Yongxin, Rector of Shenyang Polytechnic University, Li Lin, Director of the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation of Shenyang Polytechnic University.

Shenyang Polytechnic University is the longest-standing Chinese partner of BSU. The first agreement between BSU and Shenyang Polytechnic University was signed in 1996. Since then, the universities have been reliable partners who have gained a great experience of international cooperation over the years of progressive development of cooperation.

During this time, fruitful results in the field of international education have been achieved and rich experience in the organization and implementation of joint projects has been gained. In 2013, a joint double degree program was launched in the bachelor's degree programs "Economics" and "Management". To date, 64 students are studying at BSU under this program.

During the visit, the participants of the meeting discussed promising areas of educational and scientific cooperation, the guests from Irkutsk were shown the technopark, production area with the latest equipment. An agreement was reached on a summer language school for BSU and SPU students. In July 2024, under this program, more than 20 students from SPU will come to BSU to study Russian and immerse themselves in the colorful Siberian culture.

The universities signed a new agreement to expand priority areas of cooperation in education and research.
