Themed meetings "The Nature of Russia in Russian Poetry" for third-year
international students were held at the International Faculty. The events were
held within the framework of the academic discipline "Interpretation of Artistic
Text".
For their performance at the meetings Chinese students prepared poems of
Russian poets A. S. Pushkin, M. Y. Lermontov, A. N. Maykov, F. I. Tyutchev, A.
A. Fet, I. S. Nikitin, I. A. Bunin, M. I. Tsvetaeva, S. A. Yesenin, N. M.
Rubtsov and others, folklore texts about Russian nature. Students read poems
about Russian nature: about Russian field, forest, birch and rowan, daisies and
cornflowers, talked about their symbolic meaning in Russian literature and
culture. The children noted that nature in Russian landscape lyrics appears as a
symbol of Russia, Russian culture, Russian national consciousness.
The students presented an expressive reading of the texts of the poems in
Russian, and also read artistic translations of these poems in Chinese, made by
Chinese researchers of Russian literature, recognized masters of artistic
translation Ge Baoquan, Zho Liangzheng, Meng Hai, Feng Chun, Yu Zhen and others.
The students took photos and videos of their performances in Russian and
Chinese for their parents and friends in China to tell them about how they study
Russian language, Russian literature and culture in Russia, in Irkutsk, at
Baikal State University.
