Students of the International Faculty of BSU took part in the interuniversity phonetic competition in Russian as a foreign language. The contest was held at the Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication of the Irkutsk State University.

In 2023 the contest was called "These words set in motion a thousand years of millions of hearts" and was dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Vladimir Mayakovsky. Chinese preparatory students - Lu Xia, Li Ying, Ding Xianwen, Abulaitijiang Abudoujesiti, as well as undergraduate students of "Linguistics" Zhong Keiyu and Ne Xianyi - represented Baikal State University at the competition.

The student Ne Xianyi was the leader of the individual competition and got the second prize for her expressive and artistic performance of the poem "This little book of mine about the sea and the lighthouse". Natalia Skobelkina, candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor, teacher of Russian language and intercultural communication of Baikal State University, prepared the students for this competition.

In the group championship the students of the International faculty of BSU also took the second place. Lu Xia, Li Ying, Ding Xianwen, Abulaitijiang Abudoujesiti, members of the "Star" team successfully completed all the tasks, one of which was a staging of the poem "Who to be?". Elena Demina - Senior Lecturer of Russian Language and Intercultural Communication Department was the one who prepared them.

Students' performance was warmly welcomed by the jury and the audience. Their applause and laughter gave the students great joy! The winners were awarded with diplomas and a sweet gifts. All the participants of the contest were given certificates.
