Online conference between Baikal State University and Turkish students was
held recently.
The interaction between Russian universities and Turkish
school graduates and students was organized by Rossotrudnichestvo
(Россотрудничество), Russian House in Turkey.
This event is the main part of the selection campaign of Turkish graduates
for quota places of the Russian Government. For a few days online meetings
between countries were held, on which Russian universities represented
themselves and Turkish young people and their parents could ask questions about
study and life in Russia.
Baikal State University participated in such event with Turkish audience for
the first time. The communication was hold in Turkish. BSU was represented by a
postgraduate student of the university, Salamov Natik. He told about the history
of BSU, popular and promising areas of study, requirements for applicants and
their education documents.
As the presentation of Baikal State University aroused great interest among
participants, a lot of questions were asked. Most of all, school graduates and
students from Turkey were interested in such issues as the duration of study at
the Preparatory faculty, opportunity to study in English, University
infrastructure, student life and, of course, the city of Irkutsk itself.
Some of them were worried about the cold weather in Siberia and long way to
Irkutsk, but Natik Salamov, who came from warm Azerbaijan, was able to convince
Turkish students not to be afraid of Siberian winters and told about interesting
places and sights of Irkutsk city and Lake Baikal.
