The meeting of the Council of Rectors was held yesterday at Baikal State University. The participants of the federal project “Young Professionals” were awarded there.

“We have one goal – to prepare good competent specialists. Graduates of Irkutsk universities can work everywhere, especially after they have passed demonstration exams and confirmed skills at the serious international level” – emphasized the Deputy Chairman of Irkutsk Region Governement Valentina Voblikova.

At the meeting of the Council of Rectors, the heads of the universities discussed targeted training and a new edition of Regulations on the Council of Rectors of Irkutsk Region and also chose new members of the Council. They were Scientific Heads of the universities and Advisers to the Rectors.

“Today we discussed the details, which require changes in the legislative framework. I should say with satisfaction that at the preliminary meeting with the Regional Government, with Legislative Assembly, we received full support.”- noted the President of Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education IrGUPS Andrei Homenko.

The Rectors also considered the issue of student participation in the construction of Baikal-Amur Mainline, which started 50 years ago. This project is important not only from the point of view of economy and geopolitics, but patriotic education of youth as well. Now students have the opportunity to contribute to the history of BAM construction.
