Yesterday «a round table was held in the conference hall of the newspaper
"Arguments and Facts in Eastern Siberia. The topic of discussion were the
problems of the work of universities in the context of sanctions. Mikhail
Kuz’min, Vice-Rector for International Relations of BSU, also attended the
meeting.
From the very beginning of the briefing, journalists asked a large number of
questions the leadership of universities about the need to adjust the curricula
of universities in connection with the new realities in international relations.
Mikhail Kuz’min commented on this situation: “The current global situation
has not affected the implementation of international programs at Baikal State
University. About 400 foreigners from different countries of the world study at
Baikal State University. Our university cooperates with more than 50
universities, and BSU students have the opportunity to practice abroad. Today,
the university implements a high number of dual degree programs with
universities in China, France and Austria. Moreover, along with the already
existing English-language master's programs (International Management, Banking
and Finance), it is planned to launch English-language bachelor's programs with
universities in China and Mongolia.”
Certainly, now there is a need to adapt a number of processes at the
university to modern realities. However, we did not have trouble in
international activities due to the restrictions imposed. Furthermore, the
university has introduced and successfully operates a modern system of distance
and hybrid education for foreign students.
This year, the university offers 868 state-funded places. An important aspect
is also the availability of a flexible system of discounts for Russian and
foreign students.
I believe that currently, international activity only increases its
importance. Therefore, on behalf of the university, I invite Russian and foreign
applicants to receive a high-quality education at an international level at our
university,” said the Vice-Rector of Baikal State University.
Nikolai Dmitriev, rector of the Agrarian University, also spoke about the
fact that agreements have been reached with partner countries and an agreement
on close cooperation has been outlined. Nikolai Dmitriev said that the
university is ready to enroll more foreign students. Now, students from 16
countries study at the IASU. The university collaborates with about 70
universities from Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. As part of
international programs, students from Germany, Switzerland and Spain have
already completed internships at IASU, Russian students are at internship in
Germany and Switzerland now.
