Prospects for cooperation between BSU and TU Dortmund University (Germany)

Baikal State University held a meeting with the representatives of TU Dortmund University, which is the result of university's effective work in strengthening of friendly relations between Russia and Germany.

The focus on making of partnership connections with German universities was held regarding the results of spring visit of the Consul General of Federal Republic of Germany in Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts of the Russian Federation, Mr. Bernd Finke. Afterward the university held a series of meetings with various German universities such as the University of Regensburg, the University of Applied Sciences Landshut, Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and defined a framework for further cooperation.

The interests of BSU were represented by E.V. Tikhonova, head of International relations department, E.V. Zimina, head of the department of Social studies and Psychology, S.A. Astafiev, head of the department of Construction and Real estate management, E.A. Rzhepka, associate professor of the department of Global economics and Economic security, E.V. Boldanova, associate professor of the department of Industrial economics and Management of natural resources, as well as A.P. Breeva, senior professor of the department of Theoretical and applied linguistics.

E.V. Tikhonova told about the main directions of BSU's international activities, detailing the already existing partnership with German universities, within the framework of which BSU carries out annual student academic exchange.

After that the associate professors of the departments introduced to their German colleagues the program contents of Social work, Construction, Economy of oil and gas complex, and spoke about the prospects of specialists' employment in these fields.

During the meeting, representatives of TU Dortmund University gave a detailed presentation of their university, in the framework of which the staff of BSU got acquainted with the history of the university, its structure, main fields of study, as well as directions of international cooperation.

German colleagues made proposals for cooperation in the following areas: PD Dr. Simone Austermann - "Educational Sciences and Psychology", Moritz Klanten, assistant professor of law - "Energy and Environmental Law", M.Sc. Nico Froese - "Spatial Planning", Prof. Uwe Uhlendorff - "Social Pedagogy".

According to Barbara Schneider, head of the university's international department, they, as potential partners on the German side, are particulary interested in mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of social work, involving both joint research and short-term academic exchanges of the university students and professors.

Finally, the parties agreed to prepare the lists of research topics for further cooperation, as well as proposals for short-term academic exchanges.
