The Russian delegation, which arrived in Pyongyang, was headed by Deputy
Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin
Mogilevsky.
Representatives of BSU participated in the plenary session of the
International Scientific and Practical Conference "Development of Science and
Education for Social Progress" among scientists from the DPRK, Russia, Belarus,
China, Singapore and Malaysia on the basis of the country's leading "training
temple" - Kim Il Sung University, which these days celebrates its 80th
anniversary.
On the sidelines of the rectors' forum, more than 80 representatives of
Korean universities and more than 70 Russian universities discussed topical
issues of strategic interaction in the field of science and education. Deputy
Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky and Deputy
Minister of Education of the DPRK Lee Chan Sik signed a significant
intergovernmental agreement on the mutual recognition of education,
qualifications and academic degrees between Russia and the DPRK.
"For BSU, participation in the forum is an opportunity to present their
competencies and find partners for the implementation of promising scientific
and educational projects. We held talks with the rector of the DPRK's leading
university, which trains management personnel for the country - the Academy of
National Economy and the rectors of two more related educational institutions -
Pyongyang Tourism University and the University of Computer Technology.
Not only communication with foreign colleagues has become useful for
adjusting the strategy of international activities, but also a discussion of the
experience of developing international relations and promoting educational
programs of Russian universities - Far Eastern Federal University, Kursk and
Pacific State Universities, Moscow Construction and Linguistic Universities,
Institute of the Russian language named after A.S. Pushkin, Perm and Irkutsk
National Research Polytechnic Universities" - noted and. about. Vice-Rector for
Research and International Activities Lyudmila Sanina.
Next year, the third forum of rectors of Russia and the DPRK will be held in
Russia, it is possible that it may be in Irkutsk.
For guests of the capital, familiarization tours were conducted with a visit
to the iconic places of Pyongyang. "A visit to the memorial complex and the
Museum of military exploits of North Korean servicemen who took part in the
hostilities in the Kursk region of Russia made an indelible impression on us.
Preserving the memory of fallen warriors is key for future generations of both
countries. The memorials created in Pyongyang and planned for construction in
the Kursk region are designed to convey to descendants the idea of inviolable
fidelity to common duty and mutual support, to help strengthen allied
relations," said Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Elena Foigel.
