Teachers and staff of BSU get acquainted with the culture of China

Teaching is not just about transferring knowledge, but building strong bridges between cultures. To teach effectively, you need to understand what they live, how they think, what foreign students and partners of the university believe in.

Guided by such principles, BSU employees went to China on a cultural program of academic exchange.

"We visited 4 provinces, had the opportunity to visit 6 cities. We met with colleagues, talked about our interaction and, of course, passed everything we saw through ourselves. Knowledge of the centuries-old Chinese concepts of "guanxi" (the importance of personal ties), "mianzi" (face preservation), understanding the traditional respect for the sacred figure of a teacher in Chinese culture ("laoshi") and knowledge of other traditions will help harmoniously adapt the methods to the usual work format for colleagues from the PRC," - said the dean of the International Faculty Anna Litovkina.

"This exchange program is not just a cultural orientation track, but a direct investment in the quality of education at BSU," said Acting Vice-Rector Lyudmila Sanina. "We are confident that our colleagues will return with new knowledge, a deep understanding of oriental etiquette and a willingness to make joint educational programs even stronger, more comfortable and effective for both sides!"
