The SKDC "Khudozhestvenny" hosted a landmark event dedicated to the 114th
anniversary of the birth of the leader of the Korean people, Kim Il Sung. The
meeting dedicated to the state holiday of the DPRK - "Day of the Sun" was
organized by the Irkutsk regional public organization "Society of Russian-Korean
Friendship," a delegation of the Khabarovsk Office of the DPRK Consulate General
in Vladivostok and Baikal State University.
On behalf of the head of the region, Roman Kolesov, First Deputy Governor of
the Irkutsk Region, addressed the participants. In his speech, he emphasized the
strength of bilateral ties, noting the contribution of the DPRK fighters to
solving common problems as part of a special military operation. Alexey
Kotelnikov, head of the territorial body of the Russian Foreign Ministry in
Irkutsk, greeted with a greeting, presenting a small excursion into the history
of the Russian-Korean partnership. The meeting was moderated by Andrei
Shapovalov, Chairman of the IRO of the Russian-Korean Friendship Society.
BSU Rector Professor Oleg Gribunov, welcoming the guests on behalf of the
Academic Council and the entire staff of the university, focused on the need to
develop relations between the two countries in the humanitarian sphere and
declared BSU's full readiness to fulfill the state task of training highly
qualified personnel for the economy and public sector of the DPRK.
"Our educational programs meet the highest international standards. We are
ready to offer high-quality training not only to young people, but also to
professionals who want to expand their competencies," Oleg Gribunov emphasized.
The head of the Khabarovsk Chancellery of the DPRK Consulate General, Chwe
Hak Yong, expressed deep gratitude for the warm welcome and meaningfully spoke
about the life path of Comrade Kim Il Sung. The solemn part ended with the
screening of documentaries by Russian and North Korean authors about the combat
training of the DPRK units and their contribution to our Victory.
The event continued in a chamber format, where the parties proceeded to
discuss specific steps for academic exchange and the implementation of joint
scientific and educational projects. At the end of the meeting, guests from the
DPRK were presented with commemorative scientific publications by the authors of
the university as a sign of long-term friendship. In the lobby of the cinema, a
photo exhibition was prepared dedicated to the republic, the main milestones of
its history and the events of the country.
