Despite years of close cooperation and the fact that the chairman of the
Irkutsk Regional Society of Friends of Mongolia Kuzma Aldarov is a graduate of
BSU, an official cooperation agreement has been signed only now. BSU Rector
Professor Oleg Gribunov and Kuzma Aldarov signed a document defining the
priority areas of joint work in the field of science and education.
"BSU has always been a forge of personnel for Mongolia. Prominent political
and economic figures of the republic, who speak excellent Russian, were educated
here. Our task is to revive and strengthen this wonderful tradition," said Kuzma
Romanovich.
Rector Oleg Gribunov emphasized the unique status of the university: BSU is
the only Russian university awarded with the two highest state awards of
Mongolia: the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (December 1972) and the Order of
Sukhbator (October 2025). He recalled that the university recently signed an
agreement on cooperation with the Consulate General of Mongolia in Irkutsk.
According to the rector, with the support of the Society of Friends of Mongolia,
the number of joint scientific and cultural initiatives will increase
significantly.
"In 2026, the 105th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations
between Russia and Mongolia is celebrated. Today Mongolia is one of Russia's key
partners in Asia, interaction with which is developing on the principles of
equal dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation. The dynamics of relations
are set by the Presidents of the two countries and therefore it is important
that the decisions made at the level of heads of state find their implementation
in the regions. Baikal State University considers this an integral priority of
its development in terms of international activities," Oleg Pavlovich
emphasized.
The parties have already outlined plans for the near future:
Joint holding of a scientific and practical conference "Russia and Mongolia:
History, Diplomacy, Economics, Science," dedicated to the 110th anniversary of
the birth of Yu. Tsedenbal" and "Russia - Mongolia - China: Problems of
Transboundary in Documents of Regional Archives."
We invite everyone to participate!
