Rector of Baikal State University Oleg Gribunov and Consul General of
Mongolia Mrs. Batsuh Ichinkhorloo signed an agreement on further cooperation.
Oleg Pavlovich stressed that diplomatic relations between our countries date
back more than a century, and BSU, which is 96 years old, has been training
high-class personnel for the Mongolian economy since its inception.
"There is an inextricable link between our scientists and students. The
signed document will expand the horizons of partnership in educational,
research, publishing and cultural and educational activities, as well as in the
field of state-patriotic education," the rector said.
The immediate plans of the parties are to hold a major international
conference at the end of May on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the
birth of an outstanding graduate of BSU, a prominent politician of Mongolia,
Yumzhagiin Tsedenbal, where the Consulate General will act as a co-organizer.
And about. Vice-rector for academic affairs Lyudmila Sanina added: "We are
considering the possibility of establishing Tsedenbal scholarships to encourage
the best Mongolian students. Also, with the assistance of the Consulate General
and the Alumni Association, it is planned to publish a booklet about graduates
of the university of different years and arrange a thematic exposition in the
Hall of History of BSU."
