Аlthough the academic year continues, the calendar year 2024 is coming to an
end and it is possible to summarize some results.
This year Baikal State University enrolled 4139 students in 59 programs of
study.
During the current academic year, our students participated in more than 6.5
thousand events of all levels - conferences, Olympiads, competitions, business
games, etc. As a result - 586 awards of all-Russian and international level.
Currently there are three Dissertation Councils at the University. In 2024,
10 people successfully defended themselves in them. The university employs 67
doctors of sciences on a full-time basis.
This year BSU Publishing House published many editions - monographs,
scientific reports, textbooks, workshops, conference materials, etc. The
publishing house of BSU published 74 titles. Among them are fundamental
editions:
- “Selected Works” in six volumes, V. V. Ignatenko and “Selected Works” in
two volumes, I. V. Smolkova. The authors acted as “progenitors” of the new
series of the publishing house;
- The four-volume “History of Irkutsk Province”, published in honor of the
260th anniversary of the formation of the Irkutsk Province, ed. L. M. Dameshek;
- History of the Ust-Ordyn Buryat District, edited by L. M. Dameshek;
- textbook “Criminology. General part” by S. S. Bosholov, which was awarded a
diploma of the first degree as the best textbook on criminal law disciplines in
the International competition for the best printed edition in the direction of
‘Legal Sciences’.
BSU has: Student Scientific Society; Council of Young Scientists; 13 student
research laboratories; student squad “Sobol 508”; sports club “Baikal” unites 11
sections. This year the Center of patriotic education was opened. The Center of
Creativity is actively developing. In 2024, 13 dance and music groups are
operating on the basis of SCDC “Khudozhestvenny” BSU. Among the achievements of
students:
- The title of Laureates at the All-Russian festival “Russian Student Spring”
in the city of Saratov.
- Organization of the city project “Youth. BAM”.
- staging of a large-scale musical based on A. S. Pushkin's work, timed to
the 225th anniversary of the poet's birth.
The university implements 11 Russian-Chinese double degree programs (4 for
Russian citizens and 7 for Chinese citizens). Programs for Russian students are
implemented with Beijing University of Foreign Economics and Trade and Shenyang
Polytechnic University. Programs for Chinese students are implemented with
Manchurian Institute of Russian Language and Manchurian Vocational College.
Today BSU has 20 partner universities in China.
