The award ceremony of the Chinese Embassy in the Russian Federation took place on the stage of the International Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations. Chinese Embassy in Russia Ambassador Zhang Hanhui personally presented medals and certificates to the Russian award recipients.

The Chinese Ambassador Award was established in 2020 by the Chinese Embassy in Russia, the Russian Union of Scientific and Engineering Public Associations with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. This year, 52 Russian scientists submitted 52 applications for the prize in three nominations: "New Materials", "Digital Industry" and "Oil and Gas Industry".

In determining the recipients, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Russia was guided by the scale of scientific achievements of the applicants, the potential of developments, as well as their contribution to the development of cooperation with scientific and educational organizations in China. After reviewing the applications, the expert committee selected six winners.

The award in the nomination "New Materials" for the work "Development of new aluminum alloys and composites with improved physical and mechanical properties" was given to Mikhail Kuz’min, Vice-Rector for International Activities of Baikal State University. The jury members highly rated the results of his scientific activity, the potential of their practical implementation, as well as achievements in the field of international cooperation development.

Mikhail Kuz’min, Vice-Rector for International Relations of Baikal State University, in his speech thanked the jury members for the high rating of his scientific work and noted that today the Sino-Russian educational and technical-scientific cooperation is developing in all directions. "Russian and Chinese specialists carry out a wide range of promising scientific research, create joint scientific and educational organizations, and train high-class personnel. It is important that the Chinese direction of cooperation is a priority for Baikal State University, and the recognition of merits at the international level opens new prospects for expanding the list of partners among scientific and educational organizations of China, increasing the number of joint programs and projects," - said Mikhail Kuz’min.
