Viktor Ignatenko, Rector of Baikal State University, celebrates his 65th birthday. Directors of the university's institutes, heads of departments, colleagues and friends, as well as representatives of the authorities came to congratulate him and present him with gifts in the Academic Council meeting room: Igor Kobzev, Governor of the Irkutsk Region, Alexander Vedernikov, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region, Ruslan Bolotov, Mayor of Irkutsk, Elena Apanovich, Deputy Minister of Education of the Irkutsk Region.

Viktor Ignatenko was born in the settlement of Arkhara, Amur region. In 1981, he graduated from the Law Faculty of Irkutsk State University with a degree in "Legal Studies". In 1989 he was elected to the Regional Council of People's Deputies, and then headed it, worked as Chairman of the Election Commission of the region, held the position of Representative for Human Rights in the Irkutsk region, held senior positions in the regional government. Since 2021 Viktor Ignatenko has been the rector of Baikal State University.

The celebration of the anniversary began with official congratulations. Representatives of the authorities acknowledged the activities of Victor Ignatenko, his responsibility, systematic and productive. Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk region Alexander Vedernikov called Victor Vasilyevich the forerunner of regional parliamentarism, one of the creators of the institute of regional legislation.

"In all areas where he has led, there has always been decent feedback from colleagues. This speaks of him as a communicative, professionally gifted and developed person. Victor Ignatenko shows by his example that it is necessary to achieve important results. But most importantly, he is a person who is always open, always ready to support, where help is needed, to solve many things", - said the Governor of the Irkutsk region Igor Kobzev, congratulating the rector.

The staff of Baikal University presented their gift to Viktor Ignatenko. They prepared a movie about the life and the work of the rector. Students also prepared their own congratulations. In honor of the anniversary the rector received a special credit book from them, with perfect marks for the university management activity. Also Victor Ignatenko was given a combat shirt of the staff of BSU Student Squads, the Center for Creativity prepared creative numbers in honor of the rector's anniversary.

Thanking everyone for congratulations, Victor Ignatenko commented: "65 years - I do not yet understand the significance of this milestone. I have a lot of work to do. So many words of praise were said to me, and I must express my gratitude to our whole team. It is impossible to achieve results if there is no consistent, friendly team that is focused on the goal achievement", - shared the anniversary person, BSU Rector Viktor Ignatenko.
