Han Seong Chin, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Irkutsk, paid a friendly visit to Baikal State University. Rector of BSU Viktor Ignatenko and Vice-Rector for international relations of the University Mikhail Kuz’min met with the guest.
As a sign of respect for Russia and the leading university of Eastern
Siberia, the consul presented Rector Viktor Ignatenko with a book of his own
composition "Every day I start a new journey", telling about the stay of the
distinguished guest in different parts of the world. The BSU Rector, orienting
to the high interest of the Consul General to the development of fruitful
cooperation, presented the Consul with a commemorative book "Scientific and
Legal Assessment of the Constitutionality of Laws", published by doctors of law,
professors Victor Ignatenko and Alexei Petrov.
"I really enjoyed my stay at Baikal State University. The conversation with
the management was very fruitful. We discussed various issues of mutual
cooperation, and even thought about creating a center for the development of the
Korean language in the future," said Han Seong Chin, Consul General of the
Republic of Korea in Irkutsk.
According to Mikhail Kuz’min, vice-rector for international relations, the
issue of opening a Korean language center at BSU has been long overdue. This is
primarily due to the popularity of Korean culture and the demand for the Korean
language among the youth and students of our university. The opening of this
center will contribute to the development of comprehensive contacts with the
universities of Irkutsk twin cities (University of Seoul, Gangneung University,
Busan University, etc.) by organizing the exchange of students, teachers, joint
publishing projects, as well as complex intercultural interaction.
