Mr. Sun Jieguang, General Secretary of the Party Committee of the Communist Party of China Jilin University of Economics and Finance, visited Baikal State University.

Jilin University students and economists, lawyers and financiers from BSU are getting to know each other as a result of successful exchange programs. The leadership of the two universities is interested in expanding cooperation. That is why the delegation includes not only representatives of the Chinese university, but also representatives of the Ministry of Education of Jilin Province. Ten other universities from this region of China are also interested in developing a partnership with Baikal State University.

"Our university has the same institutes as your university. For example, the Institute of Foreign Languages, the Institute of International Economics and Trade, the Law Institute, and so on," says Mr. Sun Jieguang.

The leaders of Baikal University and distinguished guests from China are exchanging business cards. The important meeting between the Jilin delegation and the BSU rectorate is not accidental. One of the leading universities in the northeast of the Celestial Empire is very similar to Baikal University - in terms of educational programs and even the administrative structure.

"We intend to develop not only exchange programs, but also double degree programs, various scientific cooperation programs, we plan to create and develop a joint structure aimed at the development of educational programs and at joint scientific research," says Mikhail Kuz’min, Vice-Rector for International Relations of Baikal State University.

In fall, the number of students from China, including ones from the Jilin province, will increase in Baikal State University. Baikal State University signed a bilingual cooperation agreement and future cooperation plans were discussed.
