Today, the Academic Council of Baikal State University, at its extraordinary meeting, approved the honorary title "Honorary Rector of Baikal State University”. The title will be conferred upon former rector of the university, Doctor of Economics, Professor Mikhail Vinokurov, who has been managing the university for 27 years and greatly contributed to its scientific, educational and logistical development.

"Undoubtedly, other leaders of our university, who worked before Mikhail Alekseevich, also deserve such a title. Their contribution to the formation and development of the Irkutsk Institute of National Economy is of great importance for the current generation of professors and students. First of all, it is Professor Victor Ivanitsky and other leaders, who unfortunately have left us. Mikhail Alekseevich Vinokurov led the university for the longest period of time, so we made this decision," explained the rector of Baikal State University, Professor Viktor Ignatenko.
